May 2020: how we became a remote studio in two weeks
Archived note: what we did to keep every project alive during the first lockdown. A lot of it stuck with us into 2026.
Creastra Digest
- All artefacts in the cloud, not on a designer's laptop
- One channel per project, not five chats
- A cap on video calls — or you burn out in a month
In March 2020 we had a 6-desk office. By May — no office and three new clients. A note for anyone going remote for the first time.
The main rules
- Files — Figma + Google Drive, no local "final_v3.psd"
- One Slack channel per project with bot notifications
- Video calls only when needed; everything else as voice notes
- A progress board the client can read
